Wrist Fracture and DRUJ assessment

Thumb

Patient positioned prone with the arm above the head, the thumb should be flat on the bed and straight, see scout image (Fig1).

Step 1. Acquire a standard axial dataset and construct a standard coronal reconstruction set.
Step 2. Use standard coronal data set to obtain sagittal reformats through the thumb. Align parallel to the long axis of the 1st metacarpal as shown (Fig2).
Step 3. Use the thumb coronal to obtain true axial reformats through the thumb. Align perpendicular to the long axis of the thumb metacarpal as shown (Fig3).
